It is so hard to condense four years worth of memories into a categorization of "best" memory. I have had such a wide variety of experiences that my true Queen's "experience" is really the accumulation of four years: at the Writing Centre, in the Biology DSC, as a Campus Tour Guide, volunteering, essay writing, Queen's Pub, birthdays, Herstmonceux Castle, scrabble, long cafeteria meals and getting to know my professors.

I am completing a degree in Biology, with a minor in English literature, so I am always trying to find ways to blend art and science together. I will use my new camera to try and produce a photo journal of my final days here - I will try and do portraits of my friends and professors and see how it turns out.

Kingston has been a great city to live in–the restaurants, the water, the people. I would have to say that the movie theaters downtown, especially the Screening Room, have been one of my favourite parts. I love to watch movies, and these theatres do a great job showing less well-known films and encouraging students to go. I am sad to leave Kingston and Queen's, but I have to believe that I did the most I could with my time here.

Like for most graduates, my last weeks here have become heavily nostalgic. So when I think of good advice, I always come back to that scene in Dead Poet's Society where Robin Williams utters carpe diem to his students, saying, "make your lives extraordinary". There could be worse words to live by.

I've always loved science, except in this field I get to go outside once in a while.

I have a love/hate relationship with the student ghetto. On one hand you get to live within a ten minute walk of literally everyone you'll meet at school for 4 years but the price to pay for that luxury is dilapidated homes, shifty landlords and the game "find the smell".

I decided to stay here to work over the summer in 2nd year. I got a job fixing and selling scuba gear at a dive shop in Collin's Bay, however I don't own a car, so biking 22km a day I got to appreciate just how much more of Kingston there is once you get outside the Queen's bubble. My coworkers were all retired or part time
Canadian forces vets who I went out with after hours, so I got to see a very different side to Kingston once most of the students had left.

My favourite memory of Queen's University is the fall. Every fall I go walking around campus and have this good feeling that reminds me of how lucky I am to be a student of this historic institution. Everything from the colors of the trees to the way the sun shines on the stone building is absolutely breathtaking and unforgettable!

I am in Political Studies trying to get into the field of Journalism. I love politics because of the way it has opened my mind to the world and differences people have. Also, politics has made me a critical thinker able of arguing my point over a pint with my friends!!

What do I love about Kingston?? The parks, the water, princess street, pad thai restaurants, the blue skies, the history of the town, the old homes, colorful doors, the people, the big trees, in the spring time when every one is out an about, the screening room, the artel, all of the pubs, all of the coffee shops, endless opportunities!

My favorite memory of queen's would have to be the night after my last exam where all my friends and I celebrated the end of a majestic and stress full year at school at the pier by the residences. It was a great way to say good by for now and We will see each other again in the fall!

What I love most about my field of study would have to be that it offers limitless opportunity to make a difference in people lives, from designing a water delivery system to designing artificial limbs !

What I enjoy the most about Kingston is that no one is a stranger! It's a small town where shop owners might know you by name, if you go in often enough; and there is always a friend around the corner, in the coffee shop, or at McDonald's in the early AM!

I have two favorite quotes or sayings. I must first mention that i have a funny personality with a side of serious. The first quote represents the funny: friendship is like peeing yourself, everyone can see it! But only you get the warm feeling that it brings!

The second quote is more serious and one I live by: there is no such thing as a problems, but instead there are only challenges!

My favourite memory at Queen's is during frosh week when my new friends and I went swimming in the lake after getting shaving cream and dirt all over us at City Park. It was a lot of fun because I got so excited about being a student at Queen's and felt a real sense of community with the other 1st years.

I love English literature because what could be better than reading stories all day then talking about them? I have a fascination with story telling and the
imagination. I always enjoyed writing English essays because it is like a game, trying to find the evidence in the story to support your thesis. Next year I'm excited to prepare for my career at Georgian College in the Human Resources Management Program.

What I love most about Kingston is the parks and restaurants. I have spent considerable time in both. While in the park I have played many a game of fetch with my black lab, Hunter and in the restaurants I have had so many memorable meals with friends or visiting family. One of my favourite places to go for an amazing meal is Pan Chancho for Sunday brunch! Yum!

My favourite quote is: "The robbed that smiles steals something from the thief" - Shakespeare's Othello. I think this quote is amazing because it is really in line with my philosophy of life: keep smiling and never let others have the satisfaction of bringing you down!

There are way to memories to only pick one, but I must say even after four years at Queen's I will never forget Concurrent Education's frosh week. There was so much energy, excitement and Con-Ed love all in one week. After that week I knew that my time at Queen's would be incredible even it was only spent with all the wonderful people that I had met in that one week alone!

Her favourite thing about her profession:

What's there not to love about becoming a teacher, I get to work with kids every single day, and see the joy on their faces from the smallest things in life! I get holidays and summers off, but most of all I get to try to help kids become the person they want to be by supporting them, teaching them and caring for them.

I have loved my time at Queen's. I am a history student, and have enjoyed being able to develop an understanding of the ways in which different national groups view historic events.

We asked Paige what her favourite thing about Queens is and this is what she had to say:
"Stately architecture, tall trees, colourful gardens, and lakeside trails - Queen's is simply a beautiful setting to be in. My favourite memories of Queen's were all created in this beautiful environment, whether it was studying by the lake, having lunch on the lawn at Summerhill, or walking in to Grant Hall and admiring the view for the first time.

What is your favourite thing about your profession?
"Nursing has already opened up many doors of opportunity for me, and the future looks even brighter. I love how the profession of nursing is very diverse - nurses are needed in the community, in clinics, in factories, in hospitals, overseas, etc. There is something for every personality!"

What do you like most about Kingston?
"Although Kingston may be called a city, it still has community spirit. I love how connected you can easily become to the Kingston population, through sports, volunteering, clubs, etc, and feel as though you belong."

What's the best advice someone has given you?
"Nothing worth having comes easy" are words oft spoken by my mother. My nursing education at Queen's has come with many challenges and hard work, but this piece of advice has reminded me that every long day and night spent studying, every deadline, and every 12 hour clinical shift, will someday be worth more than gold.

Sarah's favourite memories at Queen's were her concurrent education placements in the high school music classroom. She learned a lot about teaching and was able to share her love of music with others.

What she loves most about being a music teacher is the opportunity to teach students new skills in singing, playing and participating in music. Music can be really enjoyable and it is great to be able to show students that fun side of education.

Her favourite things about Kingston are all of the arts opportunities. We have the Kingston Symphony, Grand Theatre, K-Rock Centre, Screening Room, Queen's music, drama and opera performances and much more! She loves how many different elements of arts there are in a smaller city setting.

The best piece of advice she has received is from her parents: to set goals, work hard to fulfill those goals and to always follow your dreams.

Our favourite memory of Queen's would be the countless nights we spent at QP after a long day at work, if we didn't want to cook for ourselves, or just to get a chance to get together. It's great to relax with some friends and sangria is great!

What they love most about their field:
The Kinesiology program is quite small and so it is possible to get to know most of your classmates. We all get along really well and have a great time together whether its sitting together in class, being on a team for Bewic Sports days or having socials throughout the year.

Their favourite things about Kingston are warm afternoons playing frisbee, swimming and that all sorts of shops and restaurants are in such close proximity!

In allowing for interpretation and success from a wide range of perspectives and approaches, business is continually changing and is filled with an endless means to success. With that said, I love the fast-pace environment and the breadth of opportunities that the field presents. In specific to Finance, I enjoy understanding the cash flow behind a business' operations and being rewarded for accurately forecasting or valuing certain aspects of a business.

Jeff was kind enough to share his experience and memories of his time here in Kingston attending Queen's University.

What is your favourite memory of Queen's University?

My favourite memory would definitely be frosh week. Being a first year university student and coming to Queen's for the first time made me really nervous but frosh week took all my worries away! We were welcomed with open arms and greeted with such enthusiastic Queen's spirit, which is unique to only Queen's. Through frosh week I met a great bunch of friends and had a fantastic start to my University life.

What do you love most about your profession or field?

Being in biochemistry, research plays an enormous role. I have a strong passion for research into protein struction and function, but in general I feel that biochemistry is a very dynamic subject that has implications in every aspect of health related sciences.

What do you enjoy most about Kingston?

Kingston is a very quiet and cozy little town. It provides an exceptional study environment compared to the bustling cities like Toronto. I enjoy the occassional lakeside stroll, the well preserved architectural styles aroudn the town and definitely the company of the wonderful people of Kingston!

Would you share your favourite quote with future grads?

I am in biochemical engineering. Having insight into what everything is composed of changes your perspective of your surroundings, and understanding how things are made is something I find incredibly interesting. I consider the most fascinating niche of my field to be biological and genetic engineering. Being able to modify life forms based on a common code is something that will arrest me in amazement until I die.
